Built for High-Voltage Environments

Valour Services provides the practical construction capability required to deliver complex high-voltage installations within operational substations and heavy industrial environments.

Our personnel are experienced in the receipt, assembly, lifting, positioning, alignment and connection of high-voltage equipment. We coordinate the structural, mechanical and electrical interfaces required to move equipment efficiently from construction through to testing and commissioning.

We work closely with principal contractors, engineers, network representatives, OEM personnel and commissioning teams to maintain project sequencing, installation quality and clear communication throughout the works.

High-Voltage Switchgear Construction

High-Voltage Switchgear Construction

Valour Services supports the construction and installation of high-voltage switchgear and associated substation infrastructure.

Our experience includes dead-tank circuit breakers, gas circuit breakers, gas-insulated switchgear, current transformers, voltage transformers, control cabinets and associated structural and electrical systems.

Our capability covers:

  • Structural supports, equipment platforms and mounting systems
  • Assembly, lifting, positioning and alignment of primary equipment
  • Manufacturer-specified mechanical assembly and torqueing
  • Equipment earthing and bonding
  • Cable ladder, conduit and cable support systems
  • Control, protection and auxiliary cabling
  • Electrical interfaces and equipment interconnections
  • Inspection, verification and construction records

Our personnel work to engineering drawings, manufacturer instructions, approved lifting plans and project quality requirements. Installation tolerances, torque settings, cable routing, termination accuracy and equipment interfaces are checked progressively throughout the works.

Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Installation

Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Installation

Valour Services combines mechanical construction capability with specialist electrical installation.

Our personnel install structural steel platforms, equipment bases, heavy-duty cable ladder, steel conduit, liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, equipment earthing, control cabling, auxiliary wiring and equipment interconnections.

This combined capability is particularly valuable on switchgear and substation projects where structural assembly, equipment positioning and electrical completion are closely linked.

By working across these interfaces, our team can identify discrepancies early, coordinate the work sequence and maintain continuity between the mechanical and electrical scopes.

Gas-Insulated Switchgear Experience

Gas-Insulated Switchgear Experience

Our personnel have experience supporting the construction and pre-commissioning of 132 kV gas-insulated switchgear systems.

This includes GIS circuit breakers, current transformers, voltage transformers, control cabinets, cable systems and associated mechanical and electrical interfaces.

Our GIS capability is supported by experience in:

  • Controlled equipment handling and assembly
  • Cleanliness and foreign-material control
  • Cable ladder, conduit and control cabling
  • Harting plug installation and termination
  • Inspection and quality documentation
  • Pre-commissioning and defect rectification

Our personnel have also supported insulation resistance testing, polarity checks, contact resistance testing, circuit breaker timing, SF₆ pressure functions, dew-point testing and high-voltage withstand testing.

This experience provides a clear understanding of the construction standards and installation records required by commissioning teams.

Construction and Commissioning Support

Valour Services supports the transition from mechanical and electrical completion into testing and commissioning.

Our personnel work with protection engineers, commissioning engineers, network representatives and OEM specialists to:

  • Prepare equipment for testing
  • Verify control and auxiliary circuits
  • Assist with functional and point-to-point checks
  • Resolve drawing and termination discrepancies
  • Rectify defects identified during testing
  • Complete construction documentation and close-out records

This commissioning-focused approach helps identify installation issues earlier and reduces avoidable rework during the testing programme.

Operational Substation Experience

Valour Services personnel have experience carrying out construction within live and operational substations.

We work under site-specific access authority, permit and isolation systems that control work boundaries, equipment status, personnel movements, plant access and energisation requirements.

Our team understands the discipline required to manage tools, materials, lifting equipment and construction activities around live critical infrastructure.

Where work conditions, boundaries or interfaces change, activities are reassessed and coordinated with the relevant authorised personnel before continuing.

Complex Lifting and Site Coordination

Valour Services supports the lifting and installation of large high-voltage equipment within restricted and operational environments.

Our experience includes coordinated craneage and rigging for circuit breakers, GIS components, structural platforms and transformer equipment. These works involve detailed planning around crane access, equipment orientation, lifting points, structural readiness, installation tolerances and nearby live infrastructure.

Our personnel work alongside riggers, doggers, crane crews, mechanical fitters, civil contractors, OEM representatives and commissioning engineers.

We coordinate:

  • Crane, telehandler and elevated work platform movements
  • Lifting and exclusion zones
  • Restricted access and live equipment boundaries
  • Structural readiness and temporary supports
  • Equipment positioning and alignment
  • Work-at-height activities
  • Post-lift mechanical and electrical works
  • Simultaneous construction and commissioning activities

Clear coordination keeps equipment, personnel and plant movements aligned with the permit conditions and construction programme.

Safety and Quality Verification

Valour Services provides specialist construction capability with safety, worksite control and quality verification embedded throughout project delivery.

Our quality capability includes:

  • Inspection and test records
  • Torque verification and records
  • Equipment installation inspections
  • Cable and termination verification
  • Installation checklists
  • Red-line drawings
  • Defect identification and close-out
  • Construction verification records

This provides project and commissioning teams with a clear, traceable record of the completed installation.

Wetherill Park Zone Substation

Our personnel bring experience from a 145 kV double circuit breaker upgrade within an operational Endeavour Energy substation. The works involved Siemens dead-tank circuit breakers, structural steel platform bases, equipment assembly and positioning, manufacturer-specified torqueing, control interfaces and construction verification. Complex craneage was used to install structural platforms and primary equipment within live substation boundaries. The works required close coordination between construction personnel, lifting crews, network representatives and commissioning teams.

Parramatta 132 kV GIS Projects

Our personnel have experience associated with 132 kV gas-insulated switchgear works at Parramatta West and Parramatta East. The scope included GIS circuit breakers, current transformers, voltage transformers, cable ladder, control cabling, steel conduit, liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit and Harting plug termination. The projects also involved QA documentation, pre-commissioning support and coordination between mechanical, electrical and commissioning teams.

Huntingwood and West Tomerong

Further experience includes supporting the installation and commissioning of 132 kV Hyosung gas circuit breakers at Huntingwood and West Tomerong zone substations. The works involved equipment assembly, lifting and positioning, electrical interfaces, equipment earthing, cable systems, testing preparation and commissioning assistance. The West Tomerong project also required remote delivery and living-away-from-home capability.

How We Deliver

Planning and Mobilisation

We review the project scope, drawings, specifications, manufacturer instructions, lifting requirements and programme before mobilisation. Equipment interfaces, access restrictions, crane and plant movements, documentation requirements and construction sequencing are identified early.

Construction and Verification

Our personnel verify foundations, structural steel, equipment orientation, clearances, cable entry points, lifting access and installation tolerances before and during construction. Installation, inspection and documentation are completed in controlled stages.

Handover and Commissioning

Mechanical completion, equipment alignment, earthing, cabling, terminations, labelling, torque records and quality documentation are reviewed before handover. Outstanding items are closed out with the relevant project and commissioning personnel.
